Lautoka City Council Plants Trees on Constitution Day 2022

Lautoka City Council kicked off its Constitution Day Celebrations with a tree planting ceremony at the Lautoka Wharf Roundabout.

Gracing this occasion were Mr. Pyara Singh, President of Lautoka Chamber of Commerce with their members, and Mr. Kishore Kapadia, President of Lautoka Retailers Association and their members. Also present were youth members of QVS Rugby Club led by their Manager Mr. Jone Naulu.

Lautoka City Councils CEO, Mr. Mohammed Anees Khan welcomed the Chamber of Commerce and Retailers Association who came forward to collaborate with the Council in this initiative to mark the Constitution Day holiday with planting of trees for the beautification of the city. Mr. Khan assured that this is the start and more such collaborative exercise will be undertaken in the future to enhance the beautification of the city and keep it clean and green. Mr. Khan expressed his gratitude and thanked each and everyone who turned up today. The event concluded with refreshments.

LCC has decorated the entire Vitogo Parade with Fiji flags to mark this public holiday.

A carnival atmosphere has been created outside the Churchill Park, with setup of a flea market comprising of 27 stalls, 32 food stalls, 8 flower and pot plant sellers and 2 amusement rides. Council offered these stalls and rides to setup free of charge.

A free environmental cleanup of wards has also started from 5th September 2022, giving the resident ratepayers an opportunity to clean and prune trees from their compounds in preparation for the cyclone season. This is expected to conclude in the first week of October 2022, in lead up to the Fiji Day celebrations.
